“Please, Stephen.” Her voice broke down as her knees as they hit the cold ground. The sound of her body colliding with the grass was swallowed by the rain, dripping down on their heads. “I need you,” she said - more to herself than to anyone else.
The young man standing in front of her couldn’t look at her. He felt numb and shallow as he said those words to her:
”Amatis, we cannot be together. I am marrying Cèline.”
Those words were on repeat. Over and over again: We cannot be together. We cannot be together. We cannot be together.
“But- don’t you love me anymore?” Her voice was hardly a whisper but she knew he did hear her. Because he jumped as if a lightning went through his body. He didn’t say anything at first. He needed to prepare for it. It was harder and the most agonizing thing he’d ever done:
“No. I can’t, so I stopped. It’s better this way.”
Liar, he heard his own voice in his head and he wanted to shut it up but it keep saying: Liar, liar, burn in fire.
“Look, just get over it.”

And with that he was gone.
Amatis watched him go and she could feel her heart falling down burting like the rain.
